When I try to add a link, like when I'm answering a question, I cannot get it so that it is a "live" link. Can anyone help me with this?

yes, I can help you. when you write your link, highlight it. when you do that the little chain link about will brighten so that it shows up better, now click on that chain link. A box will pop up and on that first line rewrite or copy and paste you link there. now at the bottom of that same box it will say "insert" click on that. Done!! you now have a hyperlink.
