    Brown Beauty

I made this necklace to match a dress that I bought for my Sister-in-Law's wedding.  I also used it as the first project in my beading inspiration blog.  It's done in St. Petersburg and wraps once or twice for different lengths.

    Thanks for looking!

     Hi!

That's very nice! I like the weaving technique. Never seen this before. And a beautiful, warm color combination. Also very versatile with the different lenghts. Is the fabric in the background the dress you made it for?

Yep!  That's the dress.  I wore it with jeans and sandals because it's been unseasonably cold this summer.  It actually turned out to be a gorgeous day, which is a nice omen for the couple.  It rained for 5 days before and 5 after.

    Thanks for the great compliments!

I like that one too.  I have yet to try St. Petersburg chain but it's on my to do list (with about a zillion other things...).

    Jeni,

I did my first St. Perersburg chain about a year ago. I have since done another. It took me many tries before I understood wht they were expecting me to do. Once I got the drift of it I was off and running. Because I learn mainly from books and magazines it takes me a little while for the information to sink into this thick old head of mine. It is easier for me to learn if shown however I am not alway in a position to get  the class I want. I have done a couple of classes but that is always the last resort for me.

I have given some classes on techique but I tend to stay away from design classes unless I know the designer and have permission. Once (when I first starting making jewelry) I was wearing a necklace that I had made and someone asked me if I would teach them how to make it. I told them that I had gotten the design from a magazine and I didn't have permission to teach it but  that she could find it in such and such magazine.

Back to the subject. You will have fun with St. Peterburg chain when you get around to trying it. It is such a pretty stitch. Can wear it with jeans or a formal. Very Pretty.

That is such a beautiful necklace. Great colors!  I bet you get a lot of compliments on it. It is the perfect necklace for that dress. That's what is nice about making your own jewelry; you can make the perfect piece for the outfit.

Don't you just love St. Petersburg Chain? it is a fun stitch once you learn it.
