Yeah, I ordered Mark Lareau's  "All Wired Up?" last night. Even with shipping, it was onl;y like $15.00 and you can't beat that. I recommend that everyone go take a look through their selection now since it is slowly but surely dwindling. I saw a lot of 'out of stock' titles last night and even more this morning. This is a great time to get any books that you may want. Most are around half price and you can't go wrong with the deal. I wish I had more money that I could spend but I spent my allowance for this month already trying to fix up my workspace and get my storage under control. Stick out tongue Something had to be done with that though. It was getting way out of hand. Big Smile

I ordered 'Woven Wire Jewelry' and 'Zulu Inspired Beadwork', since I've been eyeing them for a while and haven't gotten around to buying them.  There were more I wanted, but have to watch the pocketbook.  That, and I'm going bead shopping tomorrow.Devil

I was looking at the Zulu one myself, but I need to be brought up to speed on wirework because of a couple of little personal projects, so I opted for the wire book first. If I pick up a hustle this week, I'll get another or three before the sale is over, if they don't sell out of the ones that I want anyway.

Technically, I am not supposed to buy anything else 'beadwise' before the 3rd of next month, but sometimes I can sneak a few small things in. Like the 2 half-hanks of 8mm sodalite beads that I got for 4 bucks at Wal Mart yesterday. I have a killer sodalite dragonfly and it would look awesome with those deep blue stones seperated by 6-8mm white freshwater pearls, with silver accents and findings. The dragonfly is like the tigereye one that I wear. You can see it in the pic on my profile page if you are interested.

    I didn't hear a thing...

I have Mark Lareau's book.  You should like it.  That was the first wirework book I bought and it has helped me.  Our BX has his book Getting Started Making Metal Jewelry and I keep eyeing it, but most of those techniques are a bit out of my league yet.  I have enough on my plate as it is.

Speaking of spending too much money, I had a very successful day today.  Spent WAY too much, but worth it, and much cheaper than Venice.  I'll try to post a couple of pics at some point.

Re: Hurt Book Sale Now On!

I got the book yesterday evening and I can't for the life of me see why it was in the 'hurt book' pile. I can't find anything at all wrong or mucked up in any fashion. I didn't get that hustle that I was talking about, so I have to stick with the one for now. It's a really good starting place for anyone as it only uses round wire and you can get round copper to practice with cheap. I knew most of the basics, but I've done some pretty funky things tonight. *laughz* This is going to be fun. Now, to learn how to write people's names with wire. Hmmmmmmmm....

Sounds like fun.  I love playing w/copper wire.  Our BX sells 5ft packets of it for .80 and I raid it from time to time.  I got my Art Jewelry newsletter and they are going to have an upcoming article on copper patination, so I'll look forward to that.  I don't usually use the copper wire in projects because I don't want it to tarnish, but don't know if there's a way to keep it from doing so.

Both books I got were fine too.  One of them had a couple of fingerprint smudges on a page or two, but no biggie.  Zulu Inspired Beadwork is an awesome book!  Other than netting and brick stitch, I haven't done any of these techniques before, and they all seem like fun to play with.  I've already got a few ideas percolating...
