Wow, not near as many as I expected. I'm sure next year will be bigger and grow from there.I know it would be a lot of work, but is there a way to see if a submission was deemed ineligible and why? Thanks!
I too would love to know if one of my submissions was deemed ineligible for some reason. There was one thing I submitted in the plastics category that I am shocked did not make it to the finals. It was polymer clay and resin, which the rules said was ok for that category. I wonder if it was not considered... would you be able to tell us about the criteria used for judging? thank you!!
I am also curious. I received an email earlier in the week asking where "AE" for my address state is. I am a military spouse stationed overseas, but I send and receive mail via the US Postal Service, and the time to mail things is no different than if I lived in say, Alaska or Hawaii. I am just hoping I was not disqualified because of that. If the judges just liked other designs better than mine, I understand.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to give feedback regarding why a project was not selected as a finalist or whether an entry was deemed ineligible or not--this is standard contest policy. With nearly 2,000 entries, we just can't offer that service--sorry!
Also, we would not eliminate a project because it came from an AE address.
We were happy with the number of entries, especially considering entrants only had about a month to pull their submissions together.
We can't wait for the next one, though! We'll be announcing months in advance, which I'm sure will generate many more entries.
Please consider opening it up to international beaders, too - you would have had at least 20-30 more in each category if those of us in the UK had been allowed to enter!
Even a single 'international' class would be better than nothing!

As one of the entrants I agree that the time crunch was significant. Designing and creating is a joy. The photography is always what takes me so long to get 'just right'.
Bead Star staff were extremely helpful with the process of entering. Entering a competition is a first for me and you have made it 'painless'!! Simply going thru the process has made this experience rewarding and taken away some of the trepidation I have felt in the past when encouraged to enter other competitions. Great format!
thanks
