    favorite books for beadweavers?

I just saw a list of favorite beading books from the Etsy Beadweavers:

    http://etsy-beadweavers.blogspot.com/2008/06/ebw-team-members-recommend-books_03.html

I probably would have added The Art of Beadwork by Valerie Hector to the list.  What do you think?  How would you have answered their question:  "Is there a single # 1 beading book that you think every beadweaver should own?"

    Hi Michelle,

I have to agree that Valerie Hector's book should on any Top 10 List. It is such a fabulous and so well written book.

I have a book 'problem' that's almost as bad as my bead 'problem' so don't think I could narrow it down to just one book.  I think that the #1 book really depends on the individual's level of beadweaving experience, main beadweaving interest and whether you are technique or project oriented.

My list of books that I could not part with:

Those Bad Bad Beads - Virgina Blakelock

Improvisational Peyote Stitch - Fearless Beadwork - Joyce Scott

The New Beadwork - Kathlyn Moss & Alice Scherer

    The Russian "White Book"

The Art and Elegance of Beadweaving - Wilcox-Wells

The Art of Beadwork - Hector

Native American Beadwork - Georg Barth

Heart to Hands Bead Embroidery - Robin Atkins

    Any book by Diane Fitzgerald

Any/All of the Beadwork How To Books such as Beaded Embellishments, Beading with Right Angle Weave, Beading on a Loom - etc.  (I have all of them and I think of them as set)

    Happy Beading,

    Lidia

It's not beadweaving, but may I mention Mark Lareau's outstanding wireworking book, "All Wired Up?" I don't yet own it myself, but that's where my next extra $20 is going!

Sure, we'll let you mention that one.  Smile

I actually have a personal copy of that book at home.  It's not as sophisticated (as far as book design) as some of the current titles but the content is top notch.  And that's what really matters, right?

I have the same "problem" with beading books.  I have "All Wired Up" as well, and like it.  My very favorites are both Carol Wilcox Wells books, and the loomwork books by Takako Sako.  Her work is just gorgeous.  Wish I had more time to do some of those projects!

Hi, For inspiration my favourites are:

Beading - From Beginner To Beyond and Beading

    and

Beading & Beyond; Both are by Sheilah Cleary

Last week I received the Beading Basics: Right-Angle Weave, and I love all the projects especially the "Flower Garden" and "Totally Twisted"

Last week I purchased Valerie Hectors The Art of Beadwork which was worth the wait (it took a while to find a copy) - I am still looking through the pictures, I haven't even started reading yet! I definitely recommend this to beadworkers of all levels.

Next on my list is The Art of Bead Embroidery.

I would just like to add one of my favorites that I didn't see anywhere:

Color Works: A Crafter's Guide to Color by Deb Menz

Almost every time I start a new project, I pull out that book and the great color wheels and tools that came with it and start playing with combinations.  Also, it's great if I feel stuck and need a creative kick in the head!

I just found the shortcut to "Posts I have not read" so here I am.

I have several books on American Indian beading, including Goodhue and Hunt, and some Dover books [reprints of early 1900 - 1930 books].  Also "Beading   Bible", and some of the beginning level ones of the Interweave books.
