Download Square-Stitched Twisty Strap

This tight-fitting bracelet from the Winter 2000 issue of Beadwork magazine is made by working a strip of square-stitch on the diagonal.  Instructions include step-by-step illustrations on how to create an alternative increase/descrease in square stitch that creates gently curved edges.  This intermediate/advanced square stitch bracelet project will be free for a limited time.

About the designer:  After we went to press for the June/July issue of Beadwork that promoted this free project, we learned that Marji Brohammer had passed away.  Marji's designs in Beadwork exemplified the creative spirit and ingenuity that are found in the best of beaders and our thoughts are with her family.

I agree w.Michelle & Wendy. As I make these bracelets my thouhjts and good energy will flow to her family & loved ones. She will live on through all of her creativity. Peace....Azjuliesther We now have a beader angel to watch us.

I am so excited to finally have the pattern to make this bracelet! I was counting the days. Marji's legacy will live on through every bead, as we all make this bracelet. It has a "ribbon" look to it that can become a symbol of the enterwining of two lives together.

Being new to beading -within the last year- I don't know anything about Marji. Her work is beautiful! My sympathy to her family, friends & colleagues. I am intrigued by this bracelet, however totally baffled about how to make it. I am unable to understand the instructions & have no clue about where to place each color bead so it looks like the pictures. HELP! Now that I've put the project aside, I'm going to try an easier square stitch pattern in order to figure out this one. Any suggestions?? Shortcuts? Translation? Thanx, kat

My true & sincere thank you to Margi & to her family for sharing such a treasure to the creative hearts & minds who will benefit from her talents.My deepest sympathy to her family but also my deepest pride as she was so obviously a lady of such gifts of which she was kind enough to share with others.What a beautiful piece.
