Thanks! All of our designs are at least partly a collaboration. We sit next to each other in our studio and pass our work back and forth to get each others feedback. Sometimes we disagree at first, but in the end, constructive criticism definitely makes our designs stronger and more refined. We learned how exciting collaboration can be while working at our Mom's bead store (Bead Paradise in Oberlin, Ohio), because all of the employee's, past and present, are wonderful designers, each with their own unique style.

I often feel as you both did when starting out. When I try a simple design, I always feel like I should add more to it, but, I like wearing designs that are uncomplicated as they go so well with any outfit or ocassion. I love both of the pieces shown here! You're a great team! Silken

How refreshing to see the editorial on "simple" sophisticated designs. One thing that turns me off about most bead magazine projects is that the designs are mostly overkill and ones I would never wear. Like the Editor said, minimal, clean-looking, sophisticated designs aren't necessarily simple to create. Take a look at Sundance jewelry, for example. Highly creative, clean simple designs that are very wearable works of art.

I really like complicated designs because they are challenging but I don't alway like to wear them since they are usually too fancy for everyday wear. On the other hand, when I make something simple and not bulky thats' great to wear when it's hot so it doesn't feel heavy, I get a lot of compliments. Even though it's much easier to make and doesn't take hours to execute, I do put a lot of thought into the colors, design and elements. I guess it has it's own rewards.
