This metal-bead cuff has just the right amount of crystal sparkle that's worthy of an Egyptian princess.  Worked in segments, the multilayer right-angle-weave rectangles are first woven then connected with loops of beads.  This project is from Beadwork magazine and will be free for a limited time.

Ever since I saw the necklace in the magazine, I've been pacing by my PC waiting till I could download this. I think it's gorgeous! I will be trying it in glass seed beads, though, 'cause I don't have the $ for metal beads. Shelley Nybakke sells Toho 8/0 3-cuts w/ a permanent finish on her website ... my local bead shop doesn't carry this size ... so I may spring for some of these beads from Shelley to make the accents in the center of each loop section of the bracelet. PS toho's "permanent finish" has easily passed my most rigorous test for color stability - dunking a bead into a small puddle of fingernail polish remover and scrubbing vigorously w/ my fingers or a paper towel. (Thanks, Carol Perrenoud, for recommending this among other tests in your "Bead Torture" article years ago.) Some other beads which LOOK like they are colored glass all the way through just have the colors painted on the surface of the beads. look carefully at the holes of shaped beads before you buy them. if you can see small areas of white closest to the holes, the bead is probably painted. Krylon spray does a nice job of stabilizing the color but I'd rather not take the chance of having the color come off. to use the Krylon spray, put a reasonable amount of the beads in a disposable airtight plastic bag. be able to spread them all out so all beads are separate. close the bag w/ your hand so there is a lot of air trapped in the bag. put the nozzle of the Krylon spray right next to the bag opening, spray JUST A LITTLE, and then start squishing the beads all around. you can tell if they are totally coated because they will look a little more shiny. if the beads aren't totally coated, spray another very tiny puff of Krylon inside the bag and continue squishing. Pour these beads out onto a paper plate, a line of paper towels ... anything to let them dry w/o touching.

i love the chance to get free instructions like the Egyptian Cuff but I just hate having to download two pages of advertising for Beadwork. How can I get around this ?

To print only the instructions, simply fill out the section of your printer windows that asks what pages to print and only print the page(s) you want.

Thank you Shelly for sharing. I'm having a challenge with starting :( ~Weave through the work "toward" the work from the bead that connects the last 2 units made~ Is that the top row horizontal bead between the last 2 right angles made? Fig.1 shows coming from the bead connecting the first and second row on the outside. ~Sigh~ I'm confused.

Thankyou I have just completed it and am giving it to my daughter-in-law for Christmas. It looks beautiful. Thankyou for sharing this with us. Here in Australia we do not have the range of beads available that you have over there but we are good at improvising with other beads.

It is very beautiful... I just wish I had a greater knowledge of working with beads in this manner... the instructions are too advanced for me.

This is a beautifull bracelet, but it was 1" too short. I followed the instructions, but had to go back and pay full price for the crystals I needed. It ended up needing one rectangle and the loops to make it the 7" (w/clasp) that is described in the pattern. I have heard this from a few others. The person I gave it to for a gift loves it. It turned out so amazing.
