This is a beautiful project. I love the different styles shown, and the idea to make them for other causes.

With so many people beading nowadays, I am very surprised that no magazine came up with a special edition for October. Being that it is Breast Cancer Awareness & Prevention month, there are so many projects that could be made to promote it.

This is wonderful.  I'm going to make a pair with pink pearls for my mom.  She's a breast cancer survivor - 3 years this October!  Question - does anyone know if there is a specific color for kidney cancer?  My father was just diagnosed, and I think my family would like these as a sign of support.

Hi all,--MelissaL

I have been designing Awareness Support jewelry for 10 years. I also include Racial Tolerance, Spousal Abuse, Child Abuse, and seveal others. But to answer question above for Kidney cancer the color is a deep forest green. Green shades represent several diseases, so make sure it is the deep forest green. I carry a large line of Breast Cancer jewelry for personal reasons, 95% of all sales goes directly to cancer research funds.

What  lovely earrings. Seeing them touched me especially today. My college roommate(class of '71) was just diagnosed and asked me to notify our other roommates. I will send a pair to each of them.  All touched by cancer are in my prayers. Joani L.

My mother got breast cancer 14 years ago on the left breast.

2006 in Sept she went for her checkup and they found a lump

on the right breast.  When they where taking tests to see

if everything was alright they then found out she had kidney

cancer on her right side . So in 2006 in Dec. 24 she was operated on and then again on dec 28th. Because they said they didn't get it all. Then on Dec 4th. my brother had his backoperated on for a herniated disc.  Then in Feb 2007

my mother got her kidney taken out.  She is 83 years old and

she is doing real good.  So what I would like tonow is what color of stones are for the other cancers.

I am going to make the earings for my mother and for other

cancer surviors I now

My mother is in the hospital now with ovarian cancer. I would love to make a pair of earrings for her. Does anyone know what the color of the bead would be?

May I also ask what gauge wire I would need if I were making my own earwires? Thank you.

Here is a site with a very good chart of Awareness Colors... I hope it helps...

www.bagwellpromotions.com/awarenesscolors.html

Also, I just googled "awareness colors" and got lots of options if the one above doesn't work.

These are beautiful, thanks for the design.

On the awareness color chart what does the number by the color mean.

I can't believe they have one for fibromyalgia which I have and one for foster kids which I also have and its the same color.

MelindaB wrote re: Remembrance Ribbon Earrings

I think that those are the stock numbers to order the silicone bracelets in the awareness colors.

Ear wires can be made out of 20 gauge or 22 gauge, and half hard is best. Sometimes 18 gauge is a little too fat.

can't wait to make them, the holidays are coming and they will make great gifts for ladies on my list.  great, great, great.

for ShellBill ~ lymphoma's color is Lime Green.  My nephew (just turned 20) was diagnosed in January 2008.  I have used Swarovski's Peridot crystals to make several Awareness jewelry items.

There is a website: www.choosehope.com that has the rubber bracelet/bands that many people are wearing and it has info on the awareness colors.

I think Alzheimer's awareness is an amethyst/purple color?

These are great! I made up 10 pair last night for my team to wear in a Breast Cancer 5K walk today (10/19/08). They loved them and most put them on right away, some were too bundled up but each was just different enough that they felt special.  I am going to make them next year for a benefit some friends of mine do, so thank you so much for such a timely piece. dawnalmc, NJ.

Where are you all finding your 12 gauge half round wire??

If you are subbing please let me know what you are using?

Here is a great link to find out what colors mean what? My little sister has had and beat brain cancer and so I have been active in our area to raise awareness and funds to support the families of childhood cancer victims and survivors. This is a great chance to do some difference in the community.
