You can get rub on transfers from  amillionlittlethings.com/index.php and also ebay , and you can make your own transfers www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk and then decals, these are water slide and transfer printed images you can purchase here internationally as well.

Dry rub on decals are better for metal , you can buy these as well at www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk or other craft online shops

How easy and how cool!  Can't wait to try this.

This looks like great fun. BrigidH's suggestions are useful, and one could also try scrapbooking and large arts + crafts stores for transfers.

Patterns could also be hand drawn using permanent, fine- and medium-tipped markers, or with metal-leafing markers. Then spray a clear fixative over them.

I wonder if embossing powders, put on the metal, then heated, would also work? You would have to apply fixative as well, to protect the finish.

So many ideas...such little time! <grin>

Hi everyone, I'm happy to hear you enjoy the project! If you don't have a local scrapbooking store the larger chain stores also have rub-ons, such at Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft: www.joann.com/.../catalog.jsp

Also, someone asked if you can emboss metal--yes, you can! I've tried it on lockets and small tins and achieved great results. The secret seems to be to use metal with a matte finish so that the stamped ink has something to hold on to. If you are unfamiliar with embossing, check out en.wikipedia.org/.../Embossing and scroll down to Rubber Stamp Embossing.

Have fun!
