I tried this today with some success. I made some pretty beads. They are uniform and swirly. However the colors came out very earthy, no matter what color I started with or added. be it transparent or opaque.

The colors came out with reds, browns, blues and white speckles.

Is there any way to get vibrant colors? What am  I doing wrong.

And a couple started bubbling real bad, what caused this, and what can I do to prevent bubbling.

Thanks for any help you are willing to provide.

Shaina

To Danni, it's really not hard. Just take your time. Follow the directions & you'll be wondering what you were nervous about in no time. To Shaina, you may be holding your mandrel too close to the flame. Try backing it out a bit. Or, your torch may be getting too much air mixed in with the fuel (propane, etc.) That can make it smoke. The smoke swirls can be pretty, but very frustrating when you are going for a different look. I had this problem & found out the hose from the tank to the torch had a loose connection (this can also be VERY dangerous). I got a new hose & have had no more problems. I know these beads have a proper definitive name, but can't remember it. Can anybody help?
