Free Necklace Project: Inspired by Sundance

I have been enamored with this lemon topaz ring with its ornate etched motif ever since my Summer catalog arrived from Sundance months ago.

Over the weekend, I crafted a simple pendant using the embossed metal technique shown in one of my past blogs here.

For this project you'll need the following:

  • circular bezel pendant and glass dome to fit inside (mine are from Nunn Design, wholesale only)
  • rubber stamp and ink pad
  • copper sheet
  • stylus
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • super glue or jewelry cement

1. Stamp your design onto the copper sheet. Let dry.

2. Using a stylus, trace over the stamped image.

 

3. Turn the copper sheet over. Here you see the size of the bezel and dome that I'll fit my image into.

 

4. Trace around your glass dome. I used a pencil with a fine tip.

5. Use scissors to cut out your image.

6. Use super glue or jewelry cement to affix the image to the inside of the bezel. Then place a thin line of glue around the edge of the glass dome and affix it to the bezel. Finish your necklace by attaching your pendant to a cord, ribbon, or other favorite stringing material.

I think I'll wear my new necklace to our family's Thanksgiving dinner, which we celebrate in the U.S. this Thursday.
