Embellished Leather Cuff

Sep 21, 2012

A few weeks ago, the editorial teams from Beadwork and Jewelry Stringing magazines got together to consolidate our office stash of beading materials. As you can imagine, we have A TON of fun materials to play with around here, but for a long time they have all been...less than organized. In the spirit of (extremely belated/extremely early) spring cleaning, we blocked off a few hours to bite the bullet and finally get our stash sorted.

Aside from the satisfaction that comes with a well-organized stash, one of the perks of spending the afternoon up to our elbows in beading materials was that we got to revisit a lot of the items that we would have otherwise forgotten we even had. I pulled a couple of these items out to play with last night, and ended up with this bracelet:

I used a little bit of beading thread to stitch a few triangle diamond cut solid rings (Beadalon) onto strands of this metallic copper leather cuff (The Lipstick Ranch).

Next time that you are looking for some beading inspiration, try organizing your own stash--you will be brimming with ideas in no time!

Love the look but as a new-bie I have no idea how you put this together.  Is the leather wrapped or do you have some kind of clasp holding the individual straps in line?  More info would be helpful.

What particular qualities does "beading thread" have that regular "sewing thread" wouldn't have?
