Behind the Scenes: Handcrafted Jewelry Photo Shoot

Jun 8, 2012

We are hard at work on the upcoming issue of Handcrafted Jewelry and have been in and out of the photo studio all week. One of my favorite things about this special issue publication is that you get to see step-by-step photos for each project. As we were shooting some of these stepout shots in the studio this morning, it occured to me that it might be neat for our readers to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of one of our magazine shoots, so I snapped a couple shots to share with you:

Our on-site photo studio...where the magic happens!
Our ironing board-o'-goodies: We set out everything that we will need to make each piece before we start shooting...from tools to tape!
Managing editor Debbie Blair re-creates one of the projects in front of the camera so that we can capture detailed images of each step in the process.
Photographer Ann Swanson sets up a shot. She makes sure that the composition of each shot is just right so that the camera picks up every little detail.

We are all really excited for this project-packed issue of Handcrafted Jewelry! Look for it on newsstands in September 2012.

I think that out of all the jewelry making magazines out there, this is my favorite! Not only does it *encourage* you to think outside of the box (which most magazines do), it shows you HOW to! While I understand that the very uniqueness of the projects would preclude the magazine being a monthly affair, I sure wish it was!!! <3<3<3
