Beaders are very generous souls, often creating jewelry and other projects in order to raise money for causes that are dear to their hearts or for someone special.  Awareness ribbons are an especially popular symbol.  Check out these awareness ribbon-inspired pieces by Beading Daily members, as well as the Remembrance Ribbon Earrings by Sandra Lupo and the Awareness Ribbon Pin by Kerrie Slade.  See the contests page for upcoming challenges and contests.

  Linda Beduhn

"This bracelet was designed in support of my dear friend Jeanne DeMartino who was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2003.  Today over 1,000 breast cancer bracelets have been sent all over the United States and Canada."
  Gretchen Coats

"I made this necklace shortly after making my squares for the 2008 bead quilt, and the pink artist project.  I had pink ribbon dreams for a long time.  My step-grandmother was a two-time survivor of breast cancer.  I wish no one would have to deal with this cancer, or any other for that matter."

Anna Daley

"These breast cancer purse zipper pulls were designed in honor of my sister in law who fought the bravest battle for nine years when she was given two years."

  Holly Engel

"I made this bracelet for a fundraiser my daughter participates in called 'Volley for the Cure.'  I donated  bracelets for raffle and door prizes that are given away thruout the evening during breaks in the games.  All proceeds from the event went to the Susan G. Koman fund."

Carla Hodge

"This was made in honor of my twin sister Darla Cooperman who passed away 10 years ago of cancer."

Signe Ivanovitch

"A few years ago I had several requests for Breast Cancer Awareness jewelry so I created my own design in a bracelet I call Hattie’s Hope in honor of my Great Aunt Hattie who passed away from breast cancer."

Kathy Myers

"I created a similar bracelet with pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness.  My mother was a 30-year survivor. This bracelet shows how one bracelet can support multiple causes."

  Barb Wolf

"My daughter, a 37-year-old, single mother of two, is in Iraq. I made these as pendants and am sending them for her to give to the friends she is close to, as a remembrance of what they are doing."  (Design pictured is a version of the Remembrance Ribbon Earrings.)

I think each one is fantastic and fits it's story perfectly. I especially love Carla's and Kathy's, and that is not to say the others are not beautiful, personally I love that style of bracelet.

OMG Carla's is awesome. I wish I knew how to bead better.I'm a beginner and my mom right now is going thru an awful time with ovarian cancer. All of these are beautiful and the caring and kindness emotion behind all of them makes them unique and special.
