I don't get much of a chance to get to rock and gem shows, but the best thing I heard was while on a field trip for Jasper. Lunchtime is usually spent sorting through what you have picked up. One of the newer club members held up a rock and asked "what's this?" A voice piped up and said "oh, that's more chuckerite"

It was great seeing you out in Tucson! I love that City and I love all the people that converge there. It's truly a wonderland of creativity and just mind-boggling abundance of possibilities.

Can't wait to see you again in King of Prussia! I'm looking forward to Bead Fest.

Okay Leslie..I was crying because a regular person like me can't fly off to attend the bead show of all bead shows but now I am bawling thanks to your wonderful post!! Have a heart my dear sister seeder. Oh well, guess I will have to go back to my latest Doodlebeads project, that always cheers me up!

I can't believe how fast Tucson comes and goes. Every year seems to revolve around that crazy event. Every year, it seems so far away and then you blink and realize it is already over.

I got lots of great stuff this year, my favorite being a glass pendant from a talented Japanese artist. I met him in Sonoma, CA one year and kept itching to get something from him. I am happy I had the opportunity this time around.

Great city, great people and great shows.

I love the picture of Mount Lemmon. I hiked it often as a child, when I lived in Tucson. It was weird to see Saguaro at the base of the mountain and pine forests at the top.

I can't think of any funny comments I heard, but Gem Show is ALWAYS big fun! FYI, Tucson really appreciates what the Bead People do for its economy, and works hard to provide parking, transportation, and amenities for Gem Show attendees. It's so big, I think it's impossible to imagine until you've seen it -- sort of like the Grand Canyon! I tell people it's bigger than Disneyland (I think it is!). I've enjoyed talking to people from all over the world on the shuttle busses, and the vendors are almost always happy to talk to you at length and answer questions. Granted, hotel rooms are at a premium, but other than being a little wet a couple of days, the weather is usually better than anywhere else in the country in February. Come on down!
