The deep level of concentration I feel when beading is very relaxing for me. I actually feel refreshed when I stop, and come back to reality so to speak. It's like a wonderful nap.

I'm hard of hearing and autistic.

The beads don't know that. Neither do the threads or instructions/patterns.

I have one adiction and that is beading ,but it is a good one as I relax when beading. I add beads in everything I do when crafting.

I work in GIS also!!! I find beading is meditative in nature. I come away re-centered and at peace.

Although I have a few friends who occasionally come to my house for a beading date, my greatest pleasure in working in company comes from a monthly meeting of a local group of spinners. Doing my beadwork among the women with their wheels, needles, and hooks (I'm a frequent guest though not a spinner myself) quadruples the centering, meditative aspect of beading while adding the fun of socializing and the pleasure of learning from their expertise in textiles and color.

I have pretty much always had jobs (office jobs) that didn't encourage any creativity and for a long time I didn't think I was creative...until I found beads. Beading has allowed me to develop the creative side of me. It helps me to feel good about myself and my "talent". I can design and make jewelry that I am proud to wear, give as gifts and also sell at craft shows. It is also a great stress reliever. I have made friends through my beading and craft shows that never would have met before. It has become a large part of who I am.

I love that I can be creative and make wonderfully tactile, non-toxic, colorful, sparkly, interesting pieces of "art" that I can wear or not. Beading is relatively low cost, portable, relaxing, challenging yet easy, and can be done for a few minutes or hours. Thanks for asking!
