Why I Loved Being a Bead Star - Guest Blog by Bead Star Finalist Ulyana Seryankina

Jun 3, 2014

Interweave's annual Bead Star competition is still accepting entries through June 13, 2014, so there's still time for you to enter! (I'd love to, but you know, I'm an employee and all.) Starting in 2013, Bead Star now accepts beaded jewelry made with bead-weaving and bead embroidery techniques, too! Take a look at one of last year's amazing entries from international bead artists Ulyana Seryankina of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and read about why she loved participating in the Bead Star competition:

"My piece, Aztec, was a first place winner  in the gemstones category of the Bead Star 2013 contest. Beading is my favorite hobby, and contests are my favorite kind of beading challenge.

If you  haven't entered a beading contest, I can encourage you to enter your work in the Bead Star competition. There's magic in the beading world, and Bead Star is a wonderful way to share that through our love of beads and jewelry! It's the biggest competition I've ever entered, and I was so impressed with the prizes and the wonderful people behind the scenes. This is your chance to take part in a world-class beading competition! Good Luck!"

Thinking about entering your very best beadwork in the Bead Star 2014 competition? There's still time! Check out the rules and entry form, and enter for your chance to be a Bead Star!

I love beads. But so far I have not been able to learn this technique. I am so frustrated.
