5 Free Crystal Beading Projects For Spring

Apr 16, 2014

It's finally spring! Oh, yes -- last weekend, my husband and I were able to go for long walks outside without having to layer up in sweaters, jackets, boots, hats, and wool socks. And the longer days! The light! It just makes me want to break out my crystal beads and make some sparkly new jewelry to wear as we enjoy the lengthening days and warmer temperatures.

Are the lovely spring days inspiring you to use more crystals in your beading projects? Well, you're in luck: check out my suggestions for five fabulous and free crystal beading projects that you can download right here on the Beading Daily site! Don't forget -- you can always change the colors of these projects to include your favorite spring-inspired palettes, or maybe include some of the luscious new colors from Swarovski!

One of my favorite crystal beading projects, the Crystal Radiance Brooch by Tina Koyama can easily be turned into a pendant. You can either use a pin finding that includes a bail for a chain or a rope, or add a beaded rope by attaching it to one of the crystal picots around the outside of the brooch.

Have you ever looked down into a crystal-clear spring pond under a brilliant, warm sun? Dustin Wedekind's Gazing Pool Necklace is a lovely interpretation of one of my favorite springtime experiences, when it's finally warm enough for me to go for a walk in the woods and watch new life bursting out of the Adirondack ponds and rivers.
Springtime also means lots of opportunities to get all glammed up. Weddings, proms, and graduations are all great excuses to make new crystal jewelry as a way of freshening up my favorite dresses. Jean Campbell's Glamour Girl necklace is the perfect addition to any special occasion outfit!
As spring wanes on towards summer, the fireflies start to come out, too. And Lynn Davy's Midnight Garden Cuff reminds me of all the hours I've spent with my 6-year-old chasing lightning bugs around the backyard with a jar so that we could watch them up close as they glow before releasing them back into the warm night. This is one of those crystal bead projects that adapts wonderfully to different color choices, so feel free to play and make it your own!
Last but not least, Seed Beads and Starlight Necklace by Julie Walker is a wonderful, light, and playful crystal bead project. It's just the thing when you want to make a little something special for yourself or for a last-minute gift!

The bracelet instructions can be found by clicking on the "Beading Daily Shop" tab at the upper right of this page.  The download is on sale and is called Crystal Waters.  Beautiful!

Hello:

That last image is a gorgeous bracelet and is called "Crystal Waters" by Lauren Reed.  The pattern was originally published in Step by Step Wire Jewelry, June/July 2011, but it is also for sale now in the Beading Daily Shop (was $4.00;  now $2.80) as an eProject.  Click on "SHOP" above.  Then when that opens type in "Crystal Waters."

Hope that helps.
