I've come to love the tiny 3mm bicones - I've found the larger bicones sometimes irritate my skin, but the small ones never do.    You can also build a rich tapestry with them or just add little bits of sparkle.    The fact that they are less expensive to their bigger counterparts doesn't hurt as well.     Now when I look at a 6mm it seems so HUGE

ALL crystals are my favorite crystals.

But, if I have to choose only one it would be 3 mm rounds, followed by bi-cones in 3, 4, 5, 6 mm sizes for elegant graduated jewelry.

Oh, and 6 mm butterflies are fabulous, too.

And I can't wait to get my hands on those new faceted skulls!

on Feb 14, 2014 1:07 PM

I'm more a weaver than a beader, but I incorporate beading into most of my art quilts and textiles as well as jewelry, so I tend toward the smaller beads for bits of sparkle.  Love anything iridescent, so that it picks up colors and goes with or blends the colors around it.  As a part-time jewelry beader, I probably find cubes and bicones easiest to work with because it's easier for me to get clean geometric structure, but as an artist, I tend more toward round or flat faceted beads and pearls and more organic, swirling patterns and designs.

I was raised in the "Fusion" neighborhood.  After being married we lived in a cul de sac where this cute little blond headed girl became our youngest daughter's best friend.  We moved away and the girls lost contact!  Imagine my joyful surprise, when one day I was shopping at Fusion and "the little blond headed girl" came up to me and re introduced her self.  That little girl is Melissa Loudan and was one of the employees!  They are now again in contact as well as my self.  So Fusion, fused a missing part in my life and my daughter's life!  Thanks Fusion!!!!

I am a new crafter, so I am not familiar with all the different beads. I have been checking on the enternet and I like the crystal and the larger shapes to make necklaces. I have been learning with cheaper  beads and making up my own patterns. I go to the library and get ideas from your magazine. I enjoy it very much.

I've become addicted to using Swarovski crystals. I love the shape of bicones, but recently I've been playing with rivolis. Making my own bezels out of seed beads, of course, and sometimes combining them with either bicones or round beads. I wish the round ones weren't so much more more expensive than bicones!

I must say I have never seen a crystal I don't love. I do truly have a love affair with crystals and how much more appropriate than to share this on Valentine's Day!

I have used bicones the most, however, I love rondelles. I have just recently purchased 200 pcs. of Swarovski crystal rondelle spacer beads. I have loved these for quite some time; and I recently found them at an affordable price. What a happy camper I am! Next, I want to find the crystal rondelle beads at an affordable price because they are soooo beautiful. I must say I have never had these to work with as yet.

Finally, I love the round crystals! I think they remind me of all the New Year's Eves I spent as a child living across the river from Manhattan watching the Times Square Crystal Ball dropping down, counting out loud, and then going outside with pots and pans and making a whole lot of incredibly fun noise.

Thanks! This was fun.
