3 Ideas for Quick and Easy Bracelet Making Projects

Sep 26, 2013

Let's face it: we're busy. We have jobs, families, pets, meals to cook, laundry to be done, and oh, yeah, we have to sleep at some point, too. So there isn't always as much time as we'd like to spend with our beads, that's for sure. But don't

forget, our beads are how we take time for ourselves and relax, even if it's just a quick bracelet making project or a pair of earrings for a last-minute gift. It's always important to make time to spend with our beads, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Never fear! If you're really feeling the need to bead, dig through your stash and see if you can find a handful of fire polished beads, two-holed seed beads, or even your favorite seed beads and use one of these three ideas for a quick bracelet making project that you can start (and maybe finish!) in one evening!

Quick and Easy Bracelet Making Idea #1: Round druks or fire polished beads. These are some of my new favorite beads: use right-angle weave and a handful of these beads to create a quick and easy bracelet base! Embellish to your heart's content with anything else you have handy, even seed beads. Because each unit is made with these larger beads, the base is finished in no time at all. If you want to add some kind of surface embellishment when you're done, go for it! But sometimes, just adding a clasp to the lacy, open look of this style of bead-weaving is all you need to do for a beautiful, quick bracelet making project.

Quick and Easy Bracelet Making Idea #2: Two-holed seed beads. Making a bracelet using peyote stitch or imitation herringbone stitch and your favorite color of two-holed seed bead to create a bracelet in just an hour or two! If you want to jazz it up a little, add some drop beads on the outside edges of your bracelet with contrasting colors of seed beads. Or, make a very narrow band using your two-holed seed beads and let the embellishment take center stage: daggers, spikes, and large glass leaves all make excellent embellishments for a quick and

easy bracelet making project.

Quick and Easy Bracelet Making Idea #3: Your favorite beaded rope. Okay, I know that there are times when you're working on that twisted herringbone rope using size 15 seed beads and cylinder beads, and it has to be thirty inches long, and it feels like a snail could bead faster than you. But making a bracelet out of your favorite beaded rope? Piece of cake! Combine size 11 and size 8 seed beads to make your beaded rope go faster, and for visual interest, try including some of the Czech striped seed beads. A quick button clasp when you're finished, and you're ready to go!

The fastest way for me to make a bracelet is by using memory wire. My 11° Toho rounds slid on to the bracelet wire just fine, and in thirty minutes I had a pretty little ombre bracelet to wear out.  Also, in thirty minutes, I designed a gorgeous milk chocolate pearl and padparadscha crystal rondell cuff to go with an outfit I was wearing to church.
