I'm really excited about our new eMag, Handcrafted Jewelry Studio. I am over the top excited! It's our first multimedia magazine that uses live links and video to illustrate all kinds of fun projects and info. There are pattern downloads, a slideshow of designs, video interviews, and instructions you can watch over and over again!

Handcrafted Jewelry Studio editor, Danielle Fox, has been working night and day on this fab new eMag for awhile now and it's been well worth it if you ask me! She has products, techniques, and artists from all over our creativity community generously sharing their tips and step-by-steps for some of the coolest mixed-media projects around (including your truly). Here's Danielle to give you the scoop on our new baby, Handcrafted Jewelry Studio.

Last year we released the very first edition of Handcrafted Jewelry magazine, a newsstand-only special issue devoted to mixed-media jewelry. We were thrilled, but not surprised, by the good response it received. After noticing more and more fibers, resins, rubber stamps, and other crafty supplies showing up at bead shows, we knew that beads weren't the only materials in jewelry makers' stashes any more. Designers were mixing things up and, by doing so, defining our new mission: to be there for them with unique mixed-media ideas and inspiration.

This year we've pursued that mission with even more vigor by offering a second edition of Handcrafted Jewelry magazine and, as Kristal mentioned above, Handcrafted Jewelry Studio, a brand-new electronic multi-media magazine, or eMag, that's being introduced to the world as we speak!

Like its paper-magazine cousin, Handcrafted Jewelry Studio is filled with mixed-media technique information and project ideas. What makes it different is its interactive capabilities. Download Handcrafted Jewelry Studio (it's easy!) to your computer and you can enjoy in-depth video demonstrations, zoomable photo slideshows, hyperlinks to recommended shopping sites, downloadable supplies lists and project instructions, and much, much more.

Let me tell you about some of the exciting articles and features of this eMag...

Jess Italia Lincoln, director of education for Vintaj Natural Brass Co., walks us through using hole-punch tools in Tooling Around, a column devoted to exploring tools important to mixed-media jewelry making. After watching Jess's video, you'll be able to turn anything into a jewelry component.

Susan Lenart Kazmer discusses found objects
(and what to do with them)

Learn about found objects-what are they? what can you do with them?-from mixed-mixed guru Susan Lenart Kazmer. In an interview filmed in her studio, Susan shares some of her hard-earned wisdom with customary pizzazz.

Make a simple polymer clay bead-we show you how!

Make a simple polymer clay bead by following the downloadable step-by-step instructions and photographs provided by polymer pro Heather Powers. A video tip from Ronna Sarvas Weltman, author of Ancient Modern: Polymer Clay + Wire Jewelry, tells you how to best condition your polymer clay before starting a project.

I could go on and on, but I don't want to give it all away! Purchase your own copy of Handcrafted Jewelry Studio and enjoy this exciting and revolutionary approach to do-it-yourself crafting instruction.
