Meet our Bead Star 2009 Winners and learn how you could win next year!

We love to vote for favorites, don’t we? We choose American idols,  dance stars, and even new M&M colors. So when it came to choosing favorite jewelry designs, no wonder more than 26,000 online votes were cast to select 45 winning jewelry designs for Bead Star magazine. That’s from a whopping 2,000 original jewelry projects submitted by beaders. (Do the math, those 45 represent the top 2 percent of entries!)

Grand-Prize Winner
Sue Sater

Our 2009 grand-prize winner
No one was more surprised than our grand-prize winner, Sue Sater, whose colleagues pushed her through the door to success by entering her glittering Silver Icicles necklace in this year’s competition. Now that Sue has won a $500 gift certificate from Rings & Things for her first prize in the metals category plus grand-prize booty of a free trip for two to this year’s Bead Fest Santa Fe and a $1,000 gift certificate from Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, she can never again claim she hasn’t won anything.

Bead Star Scepter

A legacy to pass from winner to winner
Outgoing 2008 grand-prize winner Valerie Aharoni created a legacy scepter to be handed down to future winners. Thank you, Valerie! Made from polymer, beads and ribbon, the scepter will be presented to Sue Sater at Bead Fest Santa Fe in March. Each winner will be entrusted to care for the scepter until the next year's winner is chosen. Again, we think this was a generous and wonderful legacy for Valerie to create for Bead Star.

Congratulations to all the 2009 Bead Star winners!
And thanks to our prize sponsors for making this even more special!
