Congraulations Power of Beading Contest Winners!

We raised $1,143 for two cancer charities, the American Institute for Cancer Research and The Wellness Community, by selling the instructions for the Awareness Ribbon Pins created by designer Kerrie Slade.  Thanks to everyone who helped make our first fundraiser a success!  Two lucky readers also won the "Power of Beading" contest by telling us how beading helped them through a challenging time.  Winners Christine Riat and Channon Belfry will each receive a handcrafted beaded ribbon pin created and donated by Kerrie Slade.  Read the winning contest entries

Official Rules and Entry Form

Beadwork VI:  The Beaded Book Competition

You still have time to enter this international competition!  Preliminary entries will be accepted through December 18, 2008.  Think favorite characters in literature, inspiring quotes or passages, books that changed your life--anything related to the world of books.  The possibilities are endless!  Even though I won't be entering, I couldn't resist creating a beaded version of this middle grade mystery book.  I had sooo much fun mixing techniques like peyote stitch, square stitch, ladder stitch, and bead embroidery with materials like felt and ribbon.  Winners will be featured in Beadwork magazine and at BeadFest Santa Fe and BeadFest Philadelphia in 2009.  I can't wait to see what you dream up! View Complete Rules.

And speaking of contests, make sure you reserve your copy of the first issue of Bead Star, filled with winning project designs using stringing and simple wireworking techniques.  This issue, which goes on sale in December, will also include the rules for next year's contest.  It's never too early to dream!

Hey!! Everyone who thinks they've entered the "Pick Your Prize Giveaway," you may want to check again.  If simply posted a comment on the Official Rules page you haven't entered the contest.  It is a separate link at the top - it's not intuitive.  But at the top of the page it does say "Official Entry Form" and when you mouse over it you will notice it's a link.  Otherwise your in the dark, like a lot of the rest of were until one of us noticed how to really participate.  Come on Beading Daily - put out a note on this or add a button to the page so it's clear.  I think a lot of the posted comments were folks who thought that was how to enter.

Fantastic effort with the fundraising... and I wish I could enter the giveaway but once again I'm ineligible (sigh)...  although since I have enough bead stash to last me several lifetimes I guess I shouldn't really mind!

Love your take on 'Hoot' Michelle - I am still  stuck in rabbit-in-headlights mode with regard to this contest, I haven't even decided WHICH book to bead, never mind HOW!
