Inside My Inbox
One of my favorite parts of this job is reading my email. I love your enthusiasm, your willingness to try new things, your ideas, your creativity. Here's a recent sample from my inbox:
- Amy wants to make jewelry with found objects.
- Kathleen is interested in bead design programs.
- Dorothy is wondering about the difference between a nipper tool and a flush cutter.
- Jen is headed to North Africa and is looking for a basic seed bead project that she can teach women to make and sell to help support their families.
Fun stuff! (In fact, some days it's hard for me to do anything other than read my email!) But the more email I received, the more I wanted to get you all together for a giant, online beading party where we could talk about all things beading, all the time.
Announcing the Beading Daily Forums
I'm happy to announce that the Beading Daily discussion forums are now open! This means you can go online any time, ask questions, meet other beaders from around the world, share your work, your ideas, and your passions. There are so many amazing people on this list--instructors, authors, designers, editors, beadmakers, shop owners--and now you'll be able to talk directly with one another. (Congratulations to Jessica S. who posted the very first question on the forum--a really great question about selling vs. keeping your designs. I hope one of you will help her out!) And don't worry--I'm not going anywhere. I'll pop in on the forums too and chat with you, as will our magazine editors, book authors, show instructors, and other Interweave folks.
I want this to be a friendly place where beaders of all levels and interests are welcome and I'm counting on you to help me create that place! I've pretty much set out the folding chairs and party hats, but I need you to tell me what else we need. What other forum topics do you want to see? What other features? How can we make this the best place to hang out and talk all things beading?
And That's Not All . . .
We've also moved our website--mostly. Two new website features include "tagging" (labeling everything so you can easily find topics like "wedding jewelry" or "selling your work") and rating posts and projects. We'll continue to add new features. I'm already working on my own personal list wish (photos! more photos!) and as always, I'd love to hear your suggestions. (Go to the forums and post your suggestions in the "Suggestions/Comments" area.)

New Project: Navy and Pearls by Barbara Richard
This necklace from Beadwork magazine combines beadweaving (peyote stitched beaded beads) and stringing techniques. I'd love to know what you think about combined techniques. Would you like to see more projects combining techniques or not? The free download period for this project has ended. Instructions are now available in the store.
No Newsletter Monday: There will be no newsletter Monday, May 26th because of the Memorial Day holiday. Of course, the website and new forums will be open, so please feel free to come by and get your daily beading fix!
