The $100 Dollar Beaded Quilt
"It's only money."
Do you believe that?
Take a look at a recent piece by Robin Atkins, who writes the Beadlust blog and who developed the "bead journal" project. She used a REAL $100 bill in her beaded journal page for the month of August. I thought that was an incredibly brave artistic decision. It's also a decision I don't think I could ever personally replicate. Just writing about it is making me break out in a sweat!
Bead Quilts and Beaded Quilts
What's the difference between a "bead quilt" and a "beaded quilt"? Is there a difference? This is how I see it:
A bead quilt is made entirely of beads. Robin Atkins has a wonderful overview of bead quilts (including lots of photos).
A beaded quilt suggests a traditional cloth quilt that has been embellished with beads. "Water World" (pictured at left) is a bead-embellished piece from the book, Beading on Fabric by Larkin Jean Van Horn.

This week on Beading Daily: This week's featured project, Ballpoint Earrings by Karen Tihor, was featured in Easy Wire magazine. It's so named because it uses a ballpoint pen to make the curves of the earrings. I'll also have more free projects from Step by Step Wire Jewelry, bead embellishment tips, and beading for a cause.
Michelle Mach is the editor of Beading Daily. She hasn't given in to the urge to start making bead-embellished quilts . . . yet.
