Valerie Hector has juried into top craft shows, including the Smithsonian Craft Show in Washington, DC and her work has been exhibited at the American Craft Museum in New York City. She is author of the book, The Art of Beadwork, and her articles have appeared in Ornament, Beadwork, and other publications. She is a founding member of the Bead Society of Greater Chicago and a renowned expert on Asian beaded textiles.
This past spring, I talked with Valerie about her innovative jewelry designs, her recent travels to China and Turkey, current beading research, and the renaissance that beading is enjoying in many parts of the world.
