Seed Beads We Love: New Twin Two-Holed Seed Beads

In case you haven't seen the latest innovative bead to come out of the Czech Republic, let me introduce you. Dear Reader, please meet the new Twin seed bead from Preciosa Ornela.

These lovely little seed beads are slightly longer and wider than a regular seed bead, and for good reason: they have two holes! These are some of the smallest two-holed beads that I have ever seen, and they are perfect for bead-weaving in all kinds of new and interesting ways.

Currently, there are eight different colors and two finishes available, but the Preciosa Ornela website states that over eighty colors will be available before the end of 2012. Each Twin seed bead measures 2.5mm x 5mm, and they are highly consistent in size.

The style and shape of these lovely little Czech seed beads will be especially wonderful for geometric bead-weaving projects. Twin seed beads also work beautifully as spacer beads between larger gemstone or glass beads to add a small hint of color and shape to strung beadwork.

Thank you Jen! I am glad you have had time to do something other than chase those crazy spammers out of here!

I purchased 3 tubes of these Twins from SparkleSpot...can't wait to see them in person! I like that I could get them in small tubes for now...York Beads has them in very limited colors and they come in 50 gram packs...I am not ready to commit to them on that level just yet!

But I also found out right after placing my order that Kandra's Beads has them as well...she sells them in 20 gram tubes and has slightly better prices but the same selection of colors!

Can't wait to see what everyone does with these...including myself! haha!

I receieved a sample pack of these beads today and am excited by their possibilities. I dont agree that they are highly consistant in size though. I'm hoping this will improve else there possibilities for beadweaving becomes more limited.

Hello Bead lovers,

there is another production of the two hole seed bead in the Czech Republic, the name of the bead is Superduo and they are even produced in transparent, coral, turquoise etc., not only coated clear and jet colors! I love playing with these beads!.....have made 3 bracelets with the Herringbone pattern getting ready for fall Christmas shoppers. One with shades of coral, cream and frosted white and the other two (in 2 sizes) using the lilac lined, pale lilac and clear AB. They are beautiful. I found the instructions to be hard to follow until I remembered "left handed logic" used in Europe. Once you get past the loops by looking at the diagram, the rest is smooth sailing and can be completed in a couple of hours.

Can't wait til my bead store gets some more brilliant colors.
