Years ago when I was co-owner of a bead shop, we had a wonderful little yarn store just up the block. One summer morning, the owner of the yarn store taught me and one of my business partners how to make these amazing fiber necklaces using all of the fun yarns and fibers she carried! I fell in love that day with things like ribbon yarn and eyelash yarn, and when I saw the fibers in this challenge kit from Southpass Beads, I thought that making a fiber necklace would be a fun project.
To make my necklace sturdy, I decided to braid the strands together and then embellish them with some of the pressed glass beads in the kit. Trying to neatly finish the ends of this braided fiber necklace was most definitely a challenge -- I called on my very best wire wrapping skills to make a good-looking wire wrapped loop on both sides of the necklace, and I think I did a pretty good job.
The copper findings in this kit were just delicious. They made me think about fall, my favorite season, and of the leaves and sunsets that I'm so fortunate to see every evening from my back porch as I look out over the mountain range across the valley.
So, now it's your turn! Come up with a name for this necklace, and post it here as a comment before September 1, 2013 at 12 midnight MST. We'll choose the one we like the best, and the winner will receive this kit of beads, fibers, and fun copper findings from Southpass Beads! (Please note: due to customs regulations, this contest is only open to residents of the United States.)
What would you call this necklace, with it's thick band of braided fibers and Czech glass bead accents? Come up with your best name (or two or three), and leave them here as a comment for a chance to win!
