Art Deco Pearl Earrings: Inspired by Downton Abbey

There are a lot of things I'm looking forward to in the New Year, but at the top of my list is the return of Downton Abbey (here in the U.S. it's on PBS). I'd almost be willing to bypass the rest of the holidays altogether for the first day of season 3 to be here (almost).

I must admit I'm obsessed with the show, especially the costumes and set décor. To say it influences my recent jewelry designs would be an understatement. I now want everything to be pearls, and I decided to make a simple pair of earrings that I could wear to the office or to dinner. I used seed beads, netting, and picots to embellish crystal pearls in two colors, then connected the pearls at two points with seed beads. Each ear wire was attached to a seed bead loop with a jump ring.

Easy and elegant!

I'm not the only bead-stitching fan of the show. See a post from Jen on Beading Daily HERE. And stay tuned: the Interweave Knits team will be releasing a special publication inspired by the show in fall 2013. In the meantime, I highly recommend you check out Downton Abbey's 2-hour season 3 premier on January 6 on PBS.

What inspires your fashion sense and jewelry designs lately?
