Winter 2015 Jewelry Stringing Guidelines Posted!

It is hard to believe we are already posting guidelines for 2015! With that being said, we are excited to announce our themes and guidelines for the Winter 2015 issue of Jewelry Stringing magazine!

Star Struck

Star motifs can be seen on everything from clothing to shoes to housewares this season. Submissions in this category should incorporate stars in some manner, whether star-spangled patterns or bold in-your-face components. Consider mixing them with elements of sophistication or even a touch of sparkle for a trendy, fashionable look. Feel free to choose star elements in gold, silver, or white, but please work within the color palette when selecting the other components in your design.

Delicate Femininity

As a contrast to the chunky, bold accessories that have been on trend for months, we’ve been drawn to delicately dainty, ultra-feminine necklaces. Jewelry you submit to this section might have barely-there chains, pretty stones, or feminine pendants, for example, but don’t let that impede the style—we’re still looking for stylish pieces that have presence in a delicate way. Think demure with an accent of color—lacy and feminine or sweet and sparkly. Submissions in this category may include a single necklace, or a set of 2 or 3 dainty necklaces that can be layered and worn as a set.

Quick and Easy

With the upcoming holiday gifting season in mind, we’ve created a section representing jewelry that is budget-friendly and can be made in only a few hours, but doesn’t necessarily look “quick” or “easy.” The pieces in this category should be interesting and well thought out, yet demonstrate that you don’t have to spend a lot of dough to create something that’s stylish and wearable. (Submissions in this category should be made with components totaling $40 or less, not counting the prices of beading wire or common findings, such as jump rings, crimp tubes, head pins, etc.)

Spotlight on Black

Black has been named one of the key fashion and jewelry trends for 2014. On the runways, we’ve seen it on its own and mixed with accents of gold or other pops of color. While black clothing and accessories are often perceived as formal, consider giving your jewelry design a modern twist. The pieces in this section should be predominantly black, but should include a splash of metallic or neutral color—think gold, silver, beige, browns, or grays.
